Can Venus Freeze Work for You?

Is loose skin giving you an aged look? Would you like to tighten up the skin on your upper arms, your abdomen, and maybe even your face and neck? At Soza Clinic in Richardson, TX, we offer a body contouring treatment called Venus Freeze that can be used to target loose skin all over the body and tighten it up. If you’re starting to see lines, wrinkles, and sagging in your skin, this treatment can work for you. A series of non-surgical, non-invasive sessions is all that’s standing in the way of the tighter, smoother skin you’ve been wishing for.

Why Is My Skin Starting to Sag?

As we age, our bodies naturally begin to produce less collagen, a protein that helps keep the skin plump and elastic. As collagen levels decline, your skin becomes less able to bounce back as your body goes through normal, everyday movements. The constant tug of gravity also begins to wear on the skin. Patients sometimes notice that their skin has started to become stretched out in appearance, and those who have lost a lot of weight may find that they’re left with loose, excess skin.

Can I Do Anything to Prevent Sagging Skin?

Maintaining a healthy and consistent weight, refraining from smoking, avoiding excessive sun exposure, and drinking plenty of water are all good steps to take if you’re worried about sagging skin. So is adhering to a conscientious skincare regimen that includes regular cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing.

But everybody goes through a natural aging process, and to some extent, no one is immune to the process and the cosmetic changes it can introduce. Genetics — something we have no control over — also plays a role in determining how each patient’s skin ages.

How Venus Freeze Works

Venus Freeze uses radiofrequency energy and electromagnetic pulses to deeply heat the skin in a way that firms up existing collagen while also stimulating the creation of more collagen. Treatment is delivered through an external applicator that will glide over the area of concern. Most patients need a series of about 6 to 8 appointments, each of which is spaced about a week apart. Despite its name, treatments using the Venus system do not freeze or chill the target area.

Because this treatment stimulates the body’s own collagen production — a process that can take 3 or 4 months — your results will unfold gradually during the weeks following your series of appointments. Patients who have undergone this treatment enjoy smoother, tauter skin that looks noticeably younger and refreshed.

What Parts of the Body Can This Treatment Be Used On?

This treatment can be used all over the body to treat loose, aging skin. Lines around the lips, jowls that have started to sag, chin wrinkles, and loose skin on the abdomen and upper arms can all be addressed with the Venus treatment system.

What Will I Need to Do to Maintain My Results?

Patients enjoy a noticeable improvement in sagging, wrinkled skin after the completion of their treatment series. But our bodies are always aging and changing, so most patients benefit from scheduling a single maintenance treatment every three or four months to maintain their results. In addition to those maintenance appointments, you can also preserve your results by keeping your skin healthy overall through a regular regimen of cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing.

What Can I Expect During Treatment?

We’ll ask you to come to your appointment with clean, dry skin that is free of makeup, moisturizer, and lotions. We’ll also ask you not to wear any jewelry in the area that is being treated. Before your treatment begins, we’ll apply a gel to the skin in your treatment area that’s similar to
what is used during ultrasounds. We’ll then gently slide the handheld applicator over and over the treatment area, and the heat level from the device will gradually increase. Depending on the scope of the area being addressed, your entire appointment should last no more than 30 minutes.

What Will It Feel Like?

Many patients equate the sensation of this treatment to a hot stone massage. You’ll feel a comfortable warmth as the treatment goes on, but you’ll never feel too hot. Patients often tell us they find the appointments relaxing, and some even doze off during their Venus sessions.

Will I Have to Take Special Precautions After My Appointment?

There is no recovery or downtime associated with this treatment. Your skin may appear flushed right after your appointment, but that will quickly pass. You’ll be able to get right back to your normal schedule and activities after your appointment, even applying makeup again right away if you wish. Some patients even schedule their sessions for their lunch hour. We recommend that patients stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water during the days immediately following their appointments.

Is It Safe?

Venus is an FDA-approved treatment system that has been safely and effectively used on patients across the country for years.

How Does Venus Freeze Compare to Treatment Options?

The Venus system isn’t the only option for patients wishing to tighten and smooth their skin, but it is one of the most convenient. Here’s how the Venus system compares to two other approaches to rejuvenation: surgical skin tightening and body contouring treatments.

Surgical Skin Tightening

Plastic surgery has long been an option for patients wishing to tighten sagging skin and smooth over lines and wrinkles. A surgical facelift and eyelid surgery are two procedures sometimes used for patients desiring facial rejuvenation. During most facelifts, the underlying tissues are tightened, excess skin is removed, and the fat pads in the face are repositioned to restore tone and contour.

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, can address puffy, sagging eyelids as well as the bags and bulges that can form around the eyes. Both facelifts and eyelid surgery are more invasive procedures that involve anesthesia and a period of recovery.

Body Contouring Treatments

There are a number of non-invasive body contouring treatments on the market that work in different ways to tighten and smooth skin and tone down areas of stubborn fat areas. These treatments are giving patients more options than ever when it comes to improving the look of their bodies. What sets the Venus system apart from some other contouring systems is that it focuses entirely on the look of the skin. It won’t change the shape of your body or rein in a flabby area, but it will turn back the clock for you by tightening crepey skin and smoothing lines and wrinkles.

Can Venus Freeze Work for You?

Venus Freeze is a versatile and widely used treatment system that is effective on all skin types and tones and on both male and female patients. There are several signs that you may be a particularly good candidate:

You Want to Erase Early Signs of Aging

The ideal candidate has skin that is starting to age and lose elasticity. Perhaps fine lines and wrinkles are starting to become more noticeable, or maybe the skin isn’t fitting as tightly on the body as it once was. Just about everyone experiences some degree of aging skin, but for some patients, the problem is especially pronounced and bothersome. If you’d like to more aggressively beat back signs of aging and achieve younger-looking skin, this treatment system can be a great option.

Reshaping Is Not a Concern

Venus Freeze is a great choice for patients who want to focus on tightening and rejuvenating aging skin and aren’t worried about smoothing an abdominal pouch, slimming down heavy thighs, or addressing other problem areas. If de-aging your body — not reshaping it — is your goal, this treatment system is a good option.

You’re Healthy

The best patients are in good overall health and don’t have an internal defibrillator, a pacemaker, or metal implants in the treatment area. Having varicose veins, uncontrolled thyroid gland disorder, or any sort of disease that is triggered by heat may disqualify you from having this treatment. It’s also not suitable for women who are currently pregnant or who are undergoing In Vitro Fertilization treatments. During your initial consultation, be sure to mention any underlying medical conditions to us.

Clear Skin

This treatment system can be used all over the body, but the skin in the target area must be healthy and free of silicone implants and injections. If you have a skin infection or any other type of active inflammation in the target area, we may ask you to postpone treatment.

You Don’t Have a Tattoo in the Area

We generally do not recommend treating tattooed areas with the Venus system.

You Can Be Patient About Your Results

This treatment system does not offer a fast fix, so it’s not the best option if you’re looking for immediate results before a special event. The Venus system works by jumpstarting collagen production, which can take several months. Patients generally need more than one treatment to see results, with the best results taking hold months after the treatment series. This system offers noticeable results, but individuals who undergo treatment must be willing to be patient with results.

You Want a Customized Treatment

Using the Venus system, our practice can design a treatment plan for you that will address all of your cosmetic concerns and goals, regardless of where they are on the body and how severe they are. Venus treatments can also be blended with other services offered by our practice — including dermal fillers, botulinum toxin injections, chemical peels, and microneedling — for a comprehensive cosmetic plan.

You Appreciate Convenience

This treatment system is a nice option for busy patients who want a solution that can conveniently fit into their busy lives. The Venus system is a non-surgical option that involves no anesthesia, no bandages, and no downtime. In other words, it’s a hassle-free solution that makes efficient use of your time.  Appointments are short and can easily be worked into a busy day. And you won’t have to worry about anything in the way of advance preparation or post-treatment precautions.

You’re Realistic

Patients who have been treated using the Venus system enjoy a noticeable improvement in the look of their skin, but the results are not as drastic and what can be achieved with plastic surgery or another more invasive option. The best patients are realistic about the Venus system and the type of results it offers.

The Treatment Everyone’s Been Talking About
