Target That Stubborn Double Chin with Kybella

In April of 2015, the Food and Drug Administration approved the use of Kybella® specifically to reduce what is called submental fullness, or the double chin. Double chins can be the result of heredity, weight gain or aging. Kybella® works by destroying the fat cells found in the double chin. When these cells are destroyed, the body eliminates them naturally.

Kybella® is a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, which is a bile acid that emulsifies fats so that the small intestine can better absorb them. People who are embarrassed by their double chins are excited about this procedure because it is minimally-invasive, and there’s no downtime after a treatment. Kybella® is injected during a simple treatment in the comfort of our office. This makes it easier than liposuction, which is sometimes used to remove fat from a double chin.

A person who seeks Kybella® treatment will have a consultation before the procedure. During this meeting, we will take your medical history and ask questions. We want to make sure that the treatment is right for you and can help you achieve your cosmetic goals.

During the actual Kybella® treatment, the solution is skillfully injected into the treatment area. It’s really that simple. The client doesn’t need to take off work to recover from the treatment. This is great because most patients need to return to our office for multiple treatment sessions in order to achieve optimal results.
